About the position
As a Commercial & Land Advisor working at ExxonMobil, you will be a part of world-class teams and gain hands-on experience and skills working on projects that create an impact. You will handle land-related responsibilities in a designated geographic area with limited supervision. This role involves managing brokers for title research and due diligence, obtaining Title Opinions and curing defects, and reviewing and drafting leases, term assignments, and contracts. You will also provide guidance on critical dates or obligations to the team, assist with the preparation of all necessary documents to drill exploratory and/or development wells, and diligently perform lease maintenance. Additionally, you will negotiate with other companies and/or individuals in preparation of term assignments, operating agreements, and farm-out agreements, and leverage your network and relationships to negotiate acreage trades, acquisitions, and divestitures. You will work with other technical functions in a designated geographical area for development planning and execution. Job may include travel.
Responsibilities
Handle land-related responsibilities in designated geographic area with limited supervision
Manage brokers for title research and due diligence
Obtain Title Opinions and cure defects
Review and draft leases, term assignments, and contracts and give guidance on any critical dates or obligations to the team
Assist with preparation of all necessary documents to drill exploratory and/or development wells, as well as diligently perform lease maintenance
Negotiate with other companies and/or individuals in preparation of term assignments, operating agreements and farm-out agreements
Leverage network and relationships to negotiate acreage trades, acquisitions, and divestitures
Work with other technical functions on in a designated geographical area for development planning and execution
Requirements
Upstream oil and gas knowledge
3+ years of in-house land experience
Bachelors in Energy Management/Energy Commerce, Law Degree, or Master of Business Administration
Excellent collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to deliver results in a performance-driven and team-oriented environment
Nice-to-haves
Strong working knowledge of interactions with BLM, NMSLO and NMOCD
Effective negotiation, advocacy and influencing skills
Strong critical thinking skills: ability to exercise business judgement/make sound decisions
Detail-oriented and capable of producing results in time constrained situations
Adaptable to changing business needs and requests
Experience with land transactions
Strong oil and gas network
Proficiency with GIS and Land Systems
