Shop Carpenter / Handyman
Advantage Containers is seeking a skilled and dependable Shop Carpenter / Handyman to join our container modification crew. In this role, you'll support our welders and fabricators with framing, carpentry, painting prep, and general shop support tasks that keep production moving. Your craftsmanship will help ensure every modified container is built safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is a hands-on opportunity for a tradesperson who enjoys varied work and thrives as part of a fast-paced shop crew.
Responsibilities
- Haul, stage, and organize materials, parts, and equipment for the shop
- Prep containers ahead of welding and fabrication work, including cleaning, staging, and removing obstructions
- Frame out containers using wood studs, metal studs, and various sheeting materials
- Prep containers for painting through surface prep, masking, and taping, and perform roll painting
- Install door hardware and windows with precision
- Perform finish and trim work on completed units
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving containers or materials using shop equipment such as forklifts
- Keep work areas, walkways, and common areas clean and free of hazards
- Perform general facility and equipment upkeep, including minor repairs and basic maintenance on tools and shop equipment
- Support other trades on the crew as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a handyman, carpenter, or general maintenance/construction tradesman
- Comfortable working with hand and power tools
- Experience with wood-stud and metal-stud framing and sheeting
- Experience installing door hardware and windows
- Experience with finish and trim carpentry
- Electrical knowledge preferred
- Ability to read basic plans and drawings and follow verbal and written instructions
- Forklift experience or willingness to become certified
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally, and to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and climbing ladders to work at heights as needed
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work well as part of a crew

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
